Overview
Duplicate Wizard processes all files locally on your Mac and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. This privacy policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.
Data Collection
Duplicate Wizard does not transmit or store any data outside your device, except for functionality managed directly by Apple as described below. The app contains no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking of any kind.
Local Processing
All file scanning, hashing, and comparison happens entirely on your Mac. No file data, metadata, or hashes are transmitted to any server. The SHA256 hashes used to identify duplicates are computed locally and exist only in memory during the scanning session.
File Access
The app only accesses folders you explicitly select through the macOS file picker or drag-and-drop. The app runs inside the macOS sandbox, which limits its access to only the folders you choose.
Duplicate Wizard reads file contents for the purpose of duplicate detection. It never modifies file contents. Files are only moved to the macOS Trash when you explicitly confirm the deletion.
No Accounts
Duplicate Wizard does not require an account to use. There is no sign-up, login, or user registration of any kind.
No Tracking
The app does not include any analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking pixels. No usage data is collected or shared with third parties.
App Store Purchases
Purchases are handled through the Mac App Store. Apple's privacy policy governs the purchase transaction. No payment information is received or stored. Purchase verification is handled locally through Apple's StoreKit framework.
Apple & App Store
Duplicate Wizard is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may independently collect data such as crash diagnostics, purchase records, and usage statistics as part of its platform services. This is governed entirely by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by Duplicate Wizard.
Third-Party Services
Duplicate Wizard uses no third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks. It is built entirely with Apple's native frameworks (SwiftUI, Foundation, CryptoKit).
Data Retention
Since no data is collected, there is no data to retain or delete. Scan results and session state exist only in memory and are discarded when the app is closed.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
